Tyson Fury stunned as dad John makes prediction for Oleksandr Usyk title fight during news conference

Tyson Fury stunned as dad John makes prediction for Oleksandr Usyk title fight during news conference

John Fury has given his thoughts on Fury vs Usyk - and his verdict shocked his son.

Tyson Fury appeared to be visibly stunned after hearing father John's 'prediction' for his upcoming unification title fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

The fight will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 18.

It had to be rescheduled after Fury suffered a cut above his eye in sparring in February, which forced him to withdraw from proceedings.

Now, two months on, 'The Gypsy King' is building up the hype ahead of the pair finally squaring off inside the ring.

He held a press conference in his hometown of Morecambe, with John Fury and promoter Frank Warren also present at the venue.

The presser was held largely to update the media on Fury's plans for his upcoming training camp, including details of who will be supporting him in the camp.

But it developed into other aspects surrounding the fight - including how John believes the bout will go down.

And although he analysed the styles of both Fury and Usyk, it was his initial comments that left the room surprised.

John said: "It's going to be a chess match... it's going to be a boxing match between two ring technicians.

"It could end up a bit of a boring fight to watch, because that's what they do..."

The main table descended into laughter at that comment, with Tyson shouting: "Buy your tickets here, guys!"

One of his entourage then added: "We've reduced the tickets now..."

Tyson then joked that Usyk would knock him out in the first round, to more laughter from those in attendance in Morecambe for the press conference.

When speaking about the Ukrainian fighter in more general terms, Fury said: "It's not personal. It's strictly business for both fighters.

"There's a lot of stuff on the line, but I don't hate him. I respect him as a man, as a fighter.

"Anyone would have to respect the man's achievements. He's unified heavyweight champion, undisputed cruiserweight champion."
